This hydraulic filter press which process's the waste sludge from an aggregate recycling facility suffered an in tank hydraulic pump failure. After the lid of the hydraulic tank was removed and pump replaced, because of the possible contamination from the particles of failed pump, any contamination from the act of changing the pump and fact that we also discovered a frayed hydraulic pipe in the tank (which was also replaced), combined with the fact that the machine was constantly in a cold & muddy environment, meant that it was a no brainer to run the hydraulic oil through our polishing rig saving nearly 1000l of oil having to be disposed of and replaced, saving time and money and protecting the press from further breakdowns associated with contaminated oil.
After this it was decided to clean the oil of it's sister press running the oil through our filter cart as part of a routine maintenance program. This was done whilst the machine was still operating it's normal cycles which we are often able to do on static machinery eliminating the need for costly downtime.
